Tom Dixon

Three years ago (2008) while visiting the Harwood Museum, Taos, NM, I saw the work of an artist whose that took my breath. Tom Dixon is an extraordinary painter living a very moderate life that affords him the freedom to paint exactly as he wishes. While there is an obvious influence of the Abstract Expressionist methodology, the work is uniquely from the hand and heart of one person. Diane and I had the chance to spend an hour or so with a person who shares his beliefs in the most honest and gracious way. What I treat it is to share thoughts with such a genuine person. If you are ever in Taos, NM be certain to see Tom’s work. It can be seen at the 203 Fine Art Gallery http://www.203fineart.com/index.html.

I love everything about painting. I love feeling the paint, seeing a rich color spread under my brush onto a surface, and the play between colors coming together. I love watching my idea take form until a painting finally says “it” and I am surprised and delighted every time. I love sharing my art and knowing that someone is moved by it.
